Getting Started

Mining a cryptocurrency can seem daunting to a beginning, but it is actually quite simple these days. This guide is intended to help those who are new to Litecoin mining with the information they need to get started in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Generate a Litecoin wallet:

A Litecoin wallet is the place where Litecoins are stored. It consists of a public address that is shared so that other people (and mining pools such as the Litecoin.BlockCooperation.com mining pool) know where to send your Litecoins, and a private key. The private key is what you use to send Litecoins to others, and so it must be kept secret.

To get started, download the official Litecoin wallet from https://litecoin.org/#download and install it. You will have a program with a simple graphical interface that will make using Litecoin easy.

Another easy way to create a wallet is to use a paper wallet generator, such as our client-side javascript wallet generator. That website and similar websites will provide you with a wallet that you can print, or save on your computer. Either way, it is important to keep the private key secret, and to not lose it as losing it would mean the loss of all Litecoins stored in that wallet.

Step 2: Mine Litecoins to that wallet:

To get started mining, you will need the public address for your Litecoin wallet.

If you downloaded the Litecoin software, you can find that public address by going to the “File” menu, clicking on “Receiving addresses...” and copying the long string of letters and numbers that starts with an uppercase L or M.

If you took the paper wallet approach, the public address is clearly shown on the paper wallet that you generated, and will again start with an upper case L.

If you are mining using an ASIC device such as an Antminer L3+, the ASIC will have a simple web interface that will ask you to provide your mining pool information. That information is as follows:

Server: litecoin.blockcooperation.com
Port: 9327
Username: Your Litecoin Public Address
Password: Any password will work (many people use an x)

Example:
Server: litecoin.blockcooperation.com
Port: 9327
Username: LdxkveF3qnEx8mce9ybAyFMDnfxC8FebBv
Password: x

To mine with CPU miner (which will be a lot slower and less productive than mining with an ASIC), you can download CPU miner from https://github.com/pooler/cpuminer/releases/tag/v2.5.0 and then run it as follows, replacing your Litecoin public address after the -u.

minerd -a scrypt -u LdxkveF3qnEx8mce9ybAyFMDnfxC8FebBv+0.0001 -p x -t 2 -o stratum+tcp://litecoin.blockcooperation.com:9327

Note: The "+0.0001" appended to the user name sets reduced difficulty and is recommended for CPU miners. That value can be adjusted by the user as needed.

Following the above guide should get you up and running at Litecoin mining in no a matter of minutes. Once you start mining, you will be able to view statistics by looking for your Litecoin public address in the statistics shown on our mining pool's home page.

This pool charges a 0% mining fee to our users. Voluntary donations are very much appreciated:
